As a University Student with little experience in the renting world, finding a place to stay can sometimes be a daunting task.

In 2018, then-incoming student, Kevin Mpunga, struggled with finding a place to live off-campus. Moving from Grande Prairie to Edmonton, Kevin had to juggle and adapt quickly, as he was faced with finding a safe rental, close to campus, and within his budget. This challenging experience led Kevin, now CEO of Elev, to create a tool for his fellow students so they could easily find a place to call home without the difficulties associated with the process.

Elev’s mission is to make living off campus easy and stress-free, so that students can focus on their education. The Elev app launches June 18th and is designed to match students with their ideal home by taking in consideration the commute time to school, their budget and personal preferences. Students can book viewings, submit applications to the rental of their choice, sign their lease and pay their rent directly on the app.

Elev has partnered with all major student union groups from the University of Alberta, NAIT, and MacEwan (UASU, NAITSA and SAMU, respectively). The team has been supported by Startup Edmonton, The Accelerator, and the League of Innovators.

Elev hopes to make students’ lives easier going forward.
